Pagamentos instantâneos e o pix brasileiro: lições da experiência indiana na década de 2010

Resumo

Pagamentos instantâneos fazem parte de um ecossistema de inovações financeiras, promovendo acesso rápido e fácil a fundos. Por meio de Modelos Não-Lineares Autorregressivos de Defasagens Distribuídas (NARDL), este artigo visa extrair lições da experiência indiana com a Unified Payments Interface (UPI), para o PIX brasileiro. Os resultados empíricos mostram que os substitutos para pagamentos instantâneos (cartões de crédito e débito) têm caráter complementar, enquanto a medida de popularidade relativa do mobile banking (MB/WLESS) e grau de sofisticação do sistema financeiro (M1/GDP) tem efeito imediato sobre esses fluxos. Os choques assimétricos negativos de curto prazo tiveram maiores impactos nos sistemas de pagamentos instantâneos.
